Many of my illustrations begin their life as sketches. If the form or shape is too vague then I will do a brief sculpture out of white stoneware clay in order to get a better visualization. This also allows more clarity when representing shapes and forms in tenebrism stylization. I work primarily in layered images -- charcoal and pastel on mylar and bristol.
